Ukraine’s Independence Day is August 24. While that date is fixed, celebrations are often scheduled for a weekend day before or after to maximize attendance.
We don’t have any events scheduled ourselves, but here are some within a reasonable driving distance of us. Look through the posters below – you might see some familiar faces!
August 18/19 – Festival at Ukrainian Homestead of ODWU, Inc. in Lehighton, Pa.;
August 19 – Flag raising in Union, NJ, followed by lunch and a short program;
August 24 – Something usually happens on the beach in Wildwood Crest around midday. Look for a crowd and flags!
August 24 – commemoration at Clifton City Hall
August 26 – celebrations in Uniondale, NY; South Bound Brook, NJ; and a big festival at Tryzub Ukrainian American Sports Center.
