Dear Friends!
I’m writing either because you are in / near New Jersey or because I think you might know somebody who is : )

This Sunday, May 5, it is my great pleasure to present my book A Kind of Refugee: The Story of an American Who Refused to Leave Ukraine at the Ukrainian American Cultural Center in Whippany.

The event is organized by my dear friend Larissa Popel (nee Oprysko) and her Plast Kurin Chortopolokhy. I’ll be joined by brilliant literary translator Hanna Leliv. See attached poster for details.

It would be delightful to see you there!

This tribute to Ukraine’s valiant spirit in the face of russia’s invasion would not be complete without helping our Ukrainian defenders** do their admirable work of protecting *all of us* from russia’s ruthless war. To that end, we’ll be raffling off a T-shirt signed by some of Ukraine’s most famous battalions (carried from Ukraine by yours truly).

You can participate in the raffle from afar by sending your donation to me via Paypal: larissa.babij@gmail.com
For every $10, you get one chance to win the shirt. Bigger donation = more chances to win.
The drawing will be on May 5.

Please spread the word about the event and the raffle to your friends and communities!

Слава Україні!

Warm wishes,
Larissa

**All proceeds from the raffle will go to two Ukraine-based grassroots organizations building drones (Hero of Ukraine) and outfitting military service members (Peacekeeping Raccoons).
